Fledgling Somerset cider brand Kicking Goat has scooped both Gold and prestigious Black Awards for their packaging and design. Designers – Cardiff-based branding agency Limegreentangerine (LGT) – picked up the honours at the recent World Brand Design Society Awards; an independent and renowned awards scheme that recognises the significance, celebrates the excellence, and promotes the best creative businesses designers and design from around the world.

The win quickly follows Kicking Goat Cider winning both Gold and the Overall Trophy for Design and Packaging at the 2022 Drinks Retailing International Cider Challenge Awards as the brand’s growth, since its launch in mid-2022, picks up significant pace.

Limegreentangerine have been working with founder James Pearce since the cider brand’s inception, helping craft a “distinctly different” premium brand proposition, reflecting the team’s moreish blend of over 17 varieties of apple from family-owned orchards. The brand officially launched in spring last year and is already available in over 150+ outlets in the South and South West, including the Pig Hotel Group, The Stay Original Pub Co and the Cobbs Farm Shops.

Limegreentangerine Creative Director Alex Down said: “James came to us and asked: how do we launch a genuine, natural, and classic-styled craft cider that feels premium, bucks the market conventions and leaves a mark on the competition? The core of this brief therefore sought to reject typical category clichés whilst also swerving the punky aesthetic craft brands otherwise roll with. We crafted a brand around a simple concept: ‘Luxurious in lifestyle – humble in character’. This drove an elegant and timeless aesthetic, beautifully classic in spirit and style. We expect big things from this little Billy, with a berry-blend cider to follow in the coming weeks.”
